How do you make a copper pipe a lower pitch?

Since copper is so expensive, I don't want to buy more (I'm making an instrument), but is there a way to make a copper pipe a lower pitch without chaning the integrity of the sound too much?
I can't change the length of the copper pipe...it's already like that...it's already too short, i was just wondering if there was a way to make the pitch lower?
