A 75.0 skier rides a 2830m long lift to the top ofa mountain. the lift makes a 14.6 degree angle. What is the change in the skiers gravitational of potiental energy?

Set h=0 at the bottom of the lift. Now determine what height the lift attains:

The 2830m is the hypoteneuse of a right triagnle and 14.6 degrees is the angle it makes with the ground. Let h be the side opposite the angle, x:

sin(x) = (opp)/(hyp)
sin(14.6) = (h)/(2830)
h =2830sin(14.6)
h = 713.36m

Now use the formula for potential gravitational energy and sub in what you know:

PEg = mgh
PEg = (75.0 kg)(9.81 m/s^2)(713.36 m)
PEg= 524854 J

So the change in the skiers gravitational of potiental energy is 524854 J.
