Walking Dragline

whats the biggest drag line earth mover?

Big Muskie (in south-east Ohio) was the only model 4250-W Bucyrus-Erie walking dragline ever built, and the largest single-bucket digging machine ever created.

She weighed 13,500 tons, her bucket could scoop 325 tons at a time, and her main boom was over 300 feet long. The first web page below is an affectionate memorial, with some more mind-boggling statistics.

The largest draglines still in existence may be referred to on the other web page:

Only two Bucyrus-Erie 3270-Ws were ever built, both for the AMAX coal company. They are the second largest draglines Bucyrus-Erie ever built, only slightly smaller than Big Muskie. The 3270Ws weigh over 8,000 tons, with a 330-foot boom and a bucket capacity of 285 tons.
